About the role

University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Locum Consultant in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery with a specialist interest in Rhinology to join our friendly and well-established team. This is an exciting opportunity for a consultant with a broad interest in ENT who is keen to develop their specialist practice in Rhinology. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality general ENT services while working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider ENT team. We are looking for a committed and forward-thinking individual who will bring their expertise and enthusiasm to the service, contribute to service development and innovation, and help us continue to provide excellent patient-centred care across Northamptonshire. Job Description/Person Specification is pending Royal college approval.

The post holder will:

Work with colleagues to provide a Consultant led service with the highest standard of care.

Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines.

Develop and maintain good working practices with wards, outpatients and the ED departments.

Ensure that junior doctors training conforms to College requirements.

Participate in the appraisal of medical staff within the department in line with the trust's agreed policy

Person specification

Essential

Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
Broad experience in the management of ENT elective surgery and emergency care
Experience with speciality interest in Rhinology
Evidence of clinical audit
Good written and verbal communication skills. Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels.
Ability to plan, implement and evaluate research. Participate in and implement audits. Be actively involved with Risk Management strategies
Ability to work in a team
Enquiring, critical approach to work
Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels

Desirable

On Specialist Register/Accreditation
Eligible for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or CCT within 6 months of interview
