About the role
We are seeking to recruit a sessional GP to join our busy, friendly and supportive practice in Blackhall and Peterlee in County Durham. Our practice prides itself on delivering quality patient care underpinned by a strong team ethos, where collaboration, mutual respect and support for all staff are paramount. We are an established training practice, actively involved in the education and development of Doctors in Training (DiTs) and medical students. We are committed to supporting professional growth and actively encourage ongoing learning and development across the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job Provide safe, high-quality, patient centred clinical care to the registered practice population. Deliver services in line with the GMS contract, its schedules, and all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. Issue prescriptions safely and appropriately, in accordance with local and national prescribing policies, guidelines, and formularies. Proactively and effectively manage patients with long term conditions, including regular review and optimisation of care. Complete all associated administrative work in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription authorisation, review of test results, and handling of clinical correspondence. Maintain clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records that comply with GMC standards, practice policies, and current professional guidance. Work constructively within the multidisciplinary team, sharing the clinical and administrative workload equitably. Practise in line with current evidence, national and local clinical guidelines, and learning from the practices audit and significant event programme. Participate in and support continuous quality improvement, clinical audit, and service development activities within the practice. Attend and contribute meaningfully to practice, clinical, and multidisciplinary team meetings as required.
