Associate Specialist

Join our dedicated team at St Neots as the Associate Specialist Doctor and play a key role in providing high-quality care to service users with complex mental health needs. Working under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, you will undertake psychiatric and external assessments for service users referred to the unit, ensuring the appropriate level of care is provided. You will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive Care Programmes tailored to individual needs. Your responsibilities will include preparing discharge summaries, reports and documentation for CPA meetings, as well as First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings. You will arrange and review clinical tests and investigations, take responsibility for chasing results and act promptly on findings. Supporting physical health care is a vital part of the role, including sharing responsibility for bloods and ECGs with the site phlebotomist, and ensuring ward staff carry out physical observations in line with medical instructions.

The Associate Specialist Doctor is integral in delivering psychiatric care at St Neots. In this role, you will conduct psychiatric assessments under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist and ensure service users receive appropriate care. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is essential to create individualized Care Programmes. Duties include preparing discharge summaries and documentation for various meetings and hearings, arranging clinical tests, and ensuring results are promptly addressed. The role encompasses supporting physical health care, including managing blood tests and ECGs. Participation in Clinical Governance initiatives, conducting audits, and contributing to research and teaching are also expected. The role requires being part of an on-call rota to provide consistent medical cover.
