Full GMC registration

Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT, or CESR (CP), or European Community Rights, with proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date within six months of interview

FRCS (Paed Surgery)

ATLS/APLS certified

Membership of BAPS

Substantial clinical experience in paediatric and neonatal surgery

Skills in minimal access surgery

Ability to offer prenatal counselling for foetal abnormality

Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients

Experience in the management of paediatric trauma at a Major Trauma Centre

Experience of teaching undergraduates and supervising specialist trainees

Understanding of the need to comply with all 18-week referral-to-treatment performance targets

Appropriate understanding of NHS directives regarding consultant surgical practice, including clinical governance

Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists and operating lists

Ability to manage and lead a surgical firm

Ability to prioritise administrative tasks and work co-operatively with administrative and clerical staff

Ability to teach clinical and operative skills

Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems, with publications in peer-reviewed journals

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Good interpersonal skills
