About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated colleague with a specialist interest in gastrointestinal radiology to join our team of 46 consultants. We are a dynamic and innovative department, and the applicant will be expected to provide acute and sub speciality imaging and have a strong interest in teaching. Portsmouth Hospital University NHS trust is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, providing acute and specialist services to a population of greater than 675,000 people. Portsmouth is part of the East branch of the Wessex specialist registrars training scheme, providing training to 20 specialist registrars. Portsmouth University NHS Trust is in partnership with the Isle of Wight and hosts the new Portsmouth Medical School. Portsmouth is a vibrant seaside port, steeped in naval history and surrounded by the beautiful South Downs National Park. It is only 1.5 hours from London, close to two international airports and has ferry links to Europe and the Isle of Wight. There are exceptional schools in the region with very good OFSTED reports. Key Responsibilities: Subspecialty interest in gastrointestinal radiology, to participate in all aspects of subspecialty gastrointestinal imaging, image guided intervention and gastrointestinal multi-disciplinary meetings. General work Acute in-patient cross sectional imaging On-call service. Currently 1:16 Supported by local Trainees until 22:00hrs Outsourced CT 22:00hrs to 0900hrs Weekend on call working is in and working for between 8-10 hrs, Provide training for the East wing of the Wessex Radiology Training Scheme Specialty Trainees. The job comprises 8 direct clinical care (DCC) and 2 supporting programme activities (SPA). One of the SPA sessions can be taken off site and home work stations and working from home is available. We are happy to support flexible working (e.g. compressed job plan, four day working etc).
