The Acute Assessment Unit provides a robust multidisciplinary assessment of all new acute adult admissions to HPFT (excluding those subject to Section 3 MHA) within 24 hours of admission, seven days of the week.
The patients who are deemed to need longer admission would be transferred to a treatment ward within first 10 days of admission to AATU, for a longer period of treatment when indicated.
