About the role

Are you a passionate and experienced Specialty Doctor looking to make a real difference in sexual and reproductive healthcare? We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time (7.5 PA) Specialty Doctor in Contraception and Sexual and Reproductive Health (CSRH) to join Sexual Health Dorset on a permanent basis. Working across Dorset, primarily from our Bournemouth and Weymouth hubs, you will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse population. This is a varied and rewarding role with opportunities to provide specialist contraception and sexual health care, including scan guided complex contraception management and long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) services. You will contribute to our Complex Contraception and LARC clinics, support the nurse-led Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTOP) service and contribute to the training and development of colleagues and trainees. You will have a minimum of five year's experience as a College Registered Trainer and be fully qualified in ultrasound scan guided techniques and practice for MTOP and complex contraception. Sexual Health Dorset provides a comprehensive range of services including specialist GUM clinics, young people's services, PSM and HIV PrEP provision. Person specification

Essential

General medical qualification, e.g., MBBS, or equivalent and hold a Licence to Practise.
Diploma in Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH)
Letter of competence in Intrauterine Techniques (LOC IUT)
Letter of competence in Sub dermal implants (LOC SDI)
CoRSH registered trainer for >5years
Formal qualification in ultrasound scanning eg SSM from CoSRH or RCOG
Full GMC Registration.
At least five years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a relevant specialty.
Experience in CSRH, Genitourinary Medicine
High levels of competence in diagnosis, risk assessment, care planning and prescribing.
Able to provide clinical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team.
Able to prioritise work to meet competing clinical demands.
Have good organisational skills and able to organise own work.
Understand principles of multi-disciplinary team working
Demonstrate ability to work as a member of a team and to liaise effectively with colleagues within the hospital.
Understand the importance of working with managers in the interest of good patient care.
Have an understanding of own strengths and weaknesses and how these attributes affect professional functioning.
Have an understanding of the stresses involved in being a specialty doctor and how to manage these appropriately.
Demonstrate a good understanding of how to work in partnership with patients and carers.
Evidence of strong and developed interpersonal skills
All applicants have high level skills in written and spoken English to enable them to carry out their role effectively.
Must meet the requirements of Good Medical Practice.
Understand and actively support the principles of Clinical Governance including audit and outcome measures.
Demonstrate a good understanding of continuing professional development needs and revalidation
Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.

MCoSRH
Special interests within SRH such as menopause, psychosexual medicine
MRCOG or diploma
DipGUM/Intermediate STIF competency or equivalent
Relevant experience at a level where independent decision making was integral to the job.
