About the role
At Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, we have a comprehensive stroke centre, and we are expanding our mechanical thrombectomy service to provide 24/7 care for the region.
Dynamic colleagues are required to fill these new posts within the anaesthetic department at Leeds General Infirmary.
The successful applicant should possess FRCA (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in general adult anaesthesia, with experience providing anaesthesia at remote sites, such as an interventional radiology suite, preferably in Neuro-anaesthesia. Additional skills and experience in obstetric anaesthesia would be welcomed. Candidates are expected to contribute to the wider departmental service provision, such as pre-assessment and major trauma. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, along with a strong commitment to teaching and service development, are essential.
The post-holder will participate in the undergraduate teaching programme for the School of Medicine at the University of Leeds. The appointee, along with colleagues, will contribute to postgraduate teaching, including the Resident Doctors in Anaesthesia teaching programme within the Yorkshire Deanery.
