About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Consultant Obstetric Physician to join the North Central London (NCL) multi-disciplinary Maternal Medicine Team on a fixed-term basis. The successful post holder will be based at one of the maternity hospitals within the NCL Maternal Medicine Network - North Middlesex University Hospital. The Role As a Consultant in Obstetric Medicine within the NCL network, you will provide specialist care for pregnant women with medical problems in both inpatient and outpatient settings at one of the NCL partner hospitals. The role includes: Participation in multi-disciplinary antenatal and postnatal clinics Acute consults for pregnant/recently pregnant women with medical problems Management of maternal medicine inpatients Liaison and coordination of patient care across the NCL network Attendance and active participation in NCL multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings Contribution to the ongoing development of the NCL Maternal Medicine Network In addition, the post holder will coordinate mechanisms to provide advice and education to physicians, obstetricians, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals across the maternal medicine network. This post offers an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative, well-established maternal medicine service and to contribute to high-quality, integrated care across North Central London. Essential

Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
Fellow or Member of Royal College of Physicians (RCP)
CCT or equivalent in a medical speciality
Undergone specific training in Obstetric Medicine within an established Obstetric medicine service
Currently working as a Consultant Physician at North Middlesex University Hospital
In depth additional expert knowledge acquired over a significant period in Maternal Medicine
Membership and regular attendance at regional and national conferences in maternal medicine/obstetric medicine including BMFMS and UK MacDonald Obstetric Medicine Society (MOMS)
Significant evidence of continued professional development in field of maternal medicine
Ability to deal with challenging situations in a formal setting, including working with Trust Medical Directors
Strong communications skills
Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to stakeholders
Ability to analyse highly complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources (verbal, written and numerical).
Demonstrated capability to act upon incomplete information, using experience to make inferences and decision making
Ability to analyse numerical and written data, assess options and draw appropriate initiatives

Desirable

RCP credential in Obstetric medicine (pre or post CCT)
A postgraduate degree (MD or PhD)
Subject matter expertise across several key areas relating to Maternal Medicine, and able to evidence national recognition of their expertise
Proven and significant leadership experience and/or formal management qualification
Experience of successfully operating in and delivering priorities in a partnership environment
Clinical Supervisor for Obstetric Medicine Advanced Training Speciality Module (ATSM) with track record of trainees successfully completing ATSM
Evidence of training physicians in obstetric medicine
Evidence of developing regional or national courses in maternal medicine
