About the role

Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor post in ENT. This is a permanent post. Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute services for the City of Bradford and surrounding areas, and has two large Hospitals; Bradford Royal Infirmary and St. Luke's Hospital. All main specialties are represented in Bradford, and the Trust has a bed base of approximately 1061 beds. Rhinology, Facial Plastics The ORL-HNS unit perform the majority of rhinoplasty surgery for Bradford. In addition there will be opportunity for the post holder to observe facial plastic procedures subject to arrangement with consultants from the Plastic Surgery department at BTHT. There will be ample opportunity to gain experience in rhinology and there are over 200 endoscopic sinus surgery procedures performed annually including frontal sinus surgery. Otology The ORL-HNS unit at BTHT offer a supra-regional cochlear implant service with over 100 implants performed per year. A wide range of otological conditions are seen and over 100 mastoid procedures are performed annually.

All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: - that applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or - have achieved the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application - Overall 7, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7. IELTS certificate to be presented at interview. If applicants believe they have adequate communication skills but do not fit into one of these examples they must provide supporting evidence
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
Evidence of achievement of ST1 / CT1 competencies in the specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2 / CT2 competences in specialty by the start date of the post
