About the role

We are really pleased to be offering this exciting Specialty Doctor post. This is available due to the retirement of the current post-holder.

The post offered are in General Adult Psychiatry/ Medical Psychotherapy working in the Haringey CEN (Complex Emotional Needs Team). There are separate NLFT CEN services for Barnet, Haringey and Enfield Boroughs. All are separately staffed with full MDT including consultant psychiatrist and allied mental health professionals (e.g. psychotherapy, psychology).

General Expectations of a Specialty Doctor employed with North London NHS Foundation Trust include:

• To work within the MDT promoting respect for all professional groups and focusing upon coherent and integrated teamwork.

• To keep up with administration and note-keeping on the electronic patient record system in a timely manner, including letters to GPs, Dialog+ and risk assessments.

• To assist with Serious Incident investigations and complaints if requested.

• To keep up to date with mandatory training.

The post holder will be expected to provide clinical medical input for the Haringey CEN service. The post-holder will be expected:

• To support the consultant in managing an established caseload of patients, many of whom use medication.

• To contribute to the management of clients in collaboration with colleagues from psychological therapies and other staff groups working in the team.

• To contribute to the assessment of newly referred cases per month and formulate appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with colleagues in other disciplines.

• To comply with all legal obligations covering clinical practice e.g. Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, safeguarding procedures.

• To complete relevant paperwork, including maintaining the electronic record and participating in routine outcome monitoring of clinical work.

• To participate in the weekly team meeting and undertake other duties, as negotiated, that contribute to the good functioning of the clinical team.

• To have an integral role in the performance of the team, further development of the service, and the development of the clinical pathways and priorities of the service line.

Essential

MBBS or equivalent
Full Registration with the General Medical Council UK
Membership of a professional indemnity organization
3 years of psych experience
Right to Work in the UK
Experience of Clinical Leadership
Engagement with Service Management
Management Training
Experience in clinical research
Enthusiasm and commitment to the NHS

Desirable

Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
Section 12(2) Approval under Mental Health Act
Higher degree in a relevant subject
Experience of working in a culturally diverse area
