oPrimary Medical degree
oFull GMC registration
oCompleted at least four years full time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term trainee or have equivalent experience and competencies
oExtensive experience in the management of a broad range of relevant mental disorders in adults
oAbility to treat service users with respect and dignity at all times, adopting a culturally sensitive approach
oAble to work effectively in a team
oAble to build constructive relationships
oAbility to plan treatment programmes in conjunction with multi-disciplinary team
oPerson-centred in clinical approach
oAbility to provide medical and mental health assessments, formulate diagnoses and initiate treatment plans
oBasic IT skills
oExcellent clinical skills
oExcellent communication skills both verbal and written
oBroad knowledge of the biological, psychological and social determinants of mental disorders in old age and evidence based management interventions
oUp to date knowledge of recent DH documentation and NICE Guidelines
oExperience in teaching junior doctors and other professional groups
