About the role
We are looking forward to having a salaried GP join us who will provide a high standard of care to our patients. As a friendly, inclusive and supportive team, we would hope to be able to support a GP to thrive in their job, and to achieve good work-life balance. We support career development options such as expanding clinical interests or medical education. We are recruiting a GP to work 3 or 4 sessions per week, with a preferred start date as soon as possible, although we can be accommodating for the right candidate. We can be flexible, including about working days, clinic start times and leave requirements, to support the right person. This is initially a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027. However, subject to continued NHS funding and a successful probation period, we would anticipate the role continuing beyond this date.
Below is a list of some of the duties the successful candidate will be expected to perform. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care: In accordance with the practice timetable/agreement, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problem. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols. Providing counselling and health education. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standard. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible) A full job description will be provided
