Locum Paediatric Consultant with interest in Diabetic Medicine

This is a fixed term post for a consultant paediatrician with a special interest in diabetic medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and enthusiastic team who believe in leading from the frontline with the aim of providing outstanding care to our community and investing in the well-being and development of our people. There is a combined Department of Paediatrics and Child Health within the Acute Trust resulting in improved liaison and integration in the care of patients and the training of junior doctors. Paediatric in-patient services and neonatal services are provided at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. The children's wards, paediatric observation unit, and outpatient clinic opened in 2002, and are sited centrally within the Hospital. The neonatal unit was refurbished in 2014 and is situated in the maternity block. The Dingley Child Development Centre is currently located at Erlegh House, University of Reading.

Job Title: Consultant Clinical Speciality / Sub-Speciality: General Paediatrics Care Group/Clinical Directorate: Urgent Care Group/Women's and Children's Reports To: Clinical Lead for Acute Paediatrics Accountable To: Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Nominal Base: Royal Berkshire Hospital Hours: Full time: 10 Programme Activities (PA)* (or pro rata for part time) Contract Type: the post will be 1.0 WTE until early Jan 2027 and will then decrease to 0.7WTE for the remainder of the fixed term contract (initially 6 months, with the potential possibility to extend to 12 months if required) Salary: As per Consultant Contract New or Replacement Post: Replacement On-Call Rota Requirements: To provide on-call cover for paediatrics on a 1 in 14 rota. On-call is Category 'A' non-resident with 3% on-call intensity supplement. Pension: NHS Contributory Scheme Annual Leave Entitlement: On appointment: 33 days (pro rata for part time) After 7 years' service: 35 days (pro rata for part time) Study Leave Entitlement: A maximum of 30 days within a three year period.
