Consultant in Emergency Medicine

Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an energetic, motivated, and forward‑thinking Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our expanding Emergency Department at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. This is a permanent 10PA post, created to support the continued development of our busy Type 1 Emergency Department and to strengthen senior clinical leadership across the service.

You will join a progressive, supportive, and highly engaged Consultant team committed to delivering high‑quality emergency care to a rapidly growing local population. Our ED sees a diverse case mix and benefits from strong links with regional trauma, critical care, and pre‑hospital networks.

As a senior member of the team, you will become a key part in the delivery of training and supervision to our junior colleagues. We are a large District General Emergency department seeing a broad spectrum of patients and  presentations. We have a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre for minor illness and injury management as well as an observation ward supported by 24 hour mental health liaison service. We have a large team of  medical, nursing and allied health care professionals providing a high quality efficient service for our patients allowing us to have flexibility in avoiding admissions where possible.
