Essential

MBBS, MB ChB or equivalent primary medical qualification
Full GMC registration with licence to practise by commencement of the post
Postgraduate qualification such as MRCEM, FRCA, FRCS, FICM, MRCP or equivalent specialty qualification
Minimum seven years' postgraduate clinical experience at the time of appointment
At least six months' experience in Emergency Medicine or equivalent specialty
At least six months' experience in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent environment delivering advanced airway management
Evidence of managing critically ill or injured patients in high-acuity settings
Demonstrable commitment to clinical practice and professional development beyond standard training programmes
Demonstrates insight into personal strengths, limitations and professional development needs
Demonstrates commitment to the principles and practice of Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine
Demonstrates professionalism, integrity and sound clinical judgement
Understands the challenges of delivering care in complex and resource-limited environments
Demonstrates commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Demonstrable ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build effective working relationships across NHS, charity and partner organisations
Competence in advanced resuscitation and management of critically ill patients
Evidence of competence in Rapid Sequence Induction (RSI) and central venous access prior to commencement

Fit to undertake operational duties in a demanding pre-hospital environment

Desirable

Diploma or fellowship in a related specialist area, such as DipIMC, FIMC, DipRTM, MSc, PGCert or equivalent qualification in prehospital, trauma or critical care practice
Completion of, or active participation in, a recognised PHEM training pathway
Previous experience in pre-hospital emergency care within the UK or internationally
Experience working within a Major Trauma Centre
Participation in quality improvement, research, education or service development projects
Leadership or management experience within healthcare organisations
Knowledge of trauma systems, major incident management and clinical governance processes
