About the role
We are looking for a Salaried GP to provide 4-6 general surgeries per week on a Monday, Tuesday and/or Friday, although there will be flexibility for the right candidate.
The clinical sessions are delivered over our two sites, in Kenton and Benwell respectively, depending on the needs of the Rota. The work timetable includes participation in the on-call Rota (usually 1 full day per week) and the Care Home Ward Round Rota (one session every 2-3 weeks.) The surgeries will include clinical admin time as well as protected time for supervision of the medical students if necessary. The role will also include up to 2 lunchtime house calls that will have been triaged by the On-call GP. The start and finish times of the surgeries can be flexible to suit individual needs. The On-call GP covers both sites from 08:30 am-18 pm as the single point of Access and Triage of all house call requests, Urgent queries from the practice team, community and Hospital teams as well as complex medication queries.
We offer a competitive salary (both experience and qualifications will be considered), indemnity paid (in addition to salary) and 6 weeks annual leave. We operate a standard BMA contract which includes protected CPD time pro rata. We support professional development and encourage applications from GPs with special interests.
Betts Avenue is a long-established GP Practice operating over two sites (Kenton and Benwell) in Newcastle upon Tyne. We are a team of 3 GP Partners supported by 3 salaried GPs, 2 long-term Locum GPs, 1 Advanced Care Practitioner, 1 Lead practice Nurse/Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA as well as an experienced managerial and admin team. We deliver a range of GMS services to a population of approximately 10,500 patients. We also have support from Care-Coordinators, Workflow Team, Pharmacy Hub, PCN pharmacists and Technicians, House Visiting team, our 2 own Practice Pharmacists, a Physiotherapist, 2 Mental Health co-ordinators for adults and a team of Social Link Workers. We use SystmOne, Accurx and AnalyzeRx.
