This appointment is for a Consultant Medical Oncologist with an interest in Urological cancers and Germ Cell tumours based at University Hospital Southampton.

You will join the Medical Oncology consultant team, specifically: • To provide specialist Medical Oncology input with expertise in Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy for these groups of patients. • To treat patients with Urological and Germ cell tumours at UHS. • To provide oncology input to the UHS Urology MDT and Germ cell MDT.

This post is available as a part time 8.25 PA post. Job share applicants will be considered.

The principal duties of this post will be to: • Be a member of the Urological and Germ Cell MDT meetings • Participate in the management of Urological and GCT patients • Attend the Uro and GCT MDT meetings • Share the patient referrals • Support the Patient Triggered Follow Up (PTFU) pathways • Provide medical oncology expertise to the Uro/GCT services • Plan and supervise chemo/immunotherapy • Conduct on treatment review clinics • Supervise care of inpatients providing cross-cover for annual leave for other Uro/GCT Consultants at UHS. • Provide Consultant input to Acute Oncology service at UHS. • Engage in peer review meetings • Participate in the recruitment and running of clinical trials

Essential

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
GMC registration with a licence to practise
Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
Understanding of equality and diversity and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English).

Desirable

Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Medical Oncology or be within 6 months of award of CCT by date of interview. Non-UK trained applicants should be on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date
Urology and Germ Cell Tumour experience
Evidence of involvement in clinical research and publication in peer-reviewed journals
Postgraduate degree (eg an MD, PhD or equivalent)
Evidence of management skills and Service Development
