Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma & Orthopaedics: Shoulder & Upper Limb

EPSOM and ST HELIER UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS TRUST and SOUTH WEST LONDON ELECTIVE ORTHOPAEDIC CENTRE (EOC) Senior Clinical Fellow (post - CCT) - Trauma & Orthopaedics: Shoulder & Upper Limb Eligible for BOA Future Leaders' Fellowship Programme .

Full Time Fixed Term 12 months commencing August 2027.

This post would be suitable for individuals who are seeking a career as a specialist shoulder surgeon and has an excellent track record of candidates progressing to Consultant posts in the UK and overseas. Candidates should have completed higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics including relevant experience in the subspecialty of shoulder and upper limb. Possession of the FRCS(Orth) or equivalent and full GMC registration are essential. Candidates must have achieved the CCT and be eligible for entry on to the UK Specialist Register prior to commencement of the post. Individuals who do not possess FRCS(Orth) or equivalent and a CCT need not apply.

This post will work alongside our current Shoulder & Elbow consultants, Mr Patel and Mr Little.

The post offers instruction in the management of patients with a range of shoulder and upper limb problems and exposure to surgery from basic to complex including arthroscopic reconstruction, primary and complex arthroplasty, trauma and post-trauma reconstruction. The post provides ample training opportunities in surgery of the shoulder, elbow and upper limb. The post holder will be expected to complete a service improvement project and participate actively in audit, research and teaching. The post holder's duties will include delivering care for patients under the care of the Shoulder and upper limb service, providing support to junior medical staff and receiving support and training from Consultant staff. Specific responsibilities will include overseeing the upper limb trauma service as well as the outcomes programme for shoulder and elbow surgery. The successful applicant will be eligible to apply for the BOA Future Leaders Programme. All BOA Leadership Fellows must be members of the BOA, or join prior to commencing the scheme. The programme cost for 2025-26 is £3960/- (including VAT) and may be subject to change. Two thirds of the cost is met by the host Trust whilst the Future Leader Fellow will be responsible for one third of the cost (this does not include travel and accommodation costs). PLEASE NOTE: The full amount will need to be paid in the first instance by yourselves, and then two thirds claimed back via the Trust employee expense system.
