About the role
Applications are invited for a clinical Fellow ST8 level post, offered by the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. This is a fixed-term post for a period of 12 months.
This post is designed to offer experience in the full range of coronary intervention for a candidate near completion of training. Exposure to the full range of elective, urgent and emergency procedures full time for 12 months will serve to perfect techniques and decision making in coronary intervention, intravascular ultrasound, OCT, rotational and orbital atherectomy, bifurcation, LMS and CTO PCI. During this dedicated interventional fellow post, the duties are care of the patients in or coming to the cardiac catheter suite. Diagnostic and invasive procedures under consultant supervision will include 8 cardiac catheter lab sessions, 1 outpatient clinic and a dedicated administration and research session. The Trust works closely with 3 surgical centres, and the post holder will also prepare cases for and support weekly multi-disciplinary meetings and monthly PCI M&M and case review sessions. Further opportunities can be available for cardiac imaging experience. The post also offers the opportunity for involvement and responsibility for recruitment to trials. The department are actively involved in interventional cardiology trials run by four Cardiology Research Nurses. The post holder will be expected to support the recruitment to current trials and have an interest in undertaking clinical research.
