About the role

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to join its established consultant team. The post will be based at West Middlesex University Hospital and will contribute to the delivery of high-quality general and specialist obstetrics and gynaecology services across both sites to the population of West London and surrounding areas. The successful post holder will work closely with consultant colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to support the provision of safe, effective, and patient-centred care. Core clinical responsibilities include participation in gynaecology one-stop clinics, obstetrics and gynaecology theatre activity, and antenatal clinics, in line with departmental service requirements. The appointment is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) and includes a hybrid on-call commitment for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The consultant on-call rota is currently undergoing a formal consultation process, and changes to the on-call pattern may be implemented following its completion.

The appointee will provide a high quality Obstetrics and Gynaecology service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues already in post. It would be expected that the consultant offers continuous responsibility for the care of patients named under their team. Whilst this post is initially and primarily based at the West Middlesex site, all appointments may require cross-site working to varying degrees. In particular we are looking for a colleague to support Obstetric services and on call commitments. These services are already established and the successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop these specialist services further. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an active interest in the management of high risk women obstetric problems. It is expected that the successful individual will provide a unified multidisciplinary approach to the care of women with problems as well as being able to support and develop the services within our unit. There will be dedicated time for teaching medical students (tutorials, ward, clinic and theatre based learning) and for post graduate teaching and departmental meetings (Friday post graduate afternoons are statutory sessions for all staff). Regular audits will be required and supervision for Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) undertaken by the trainees. Involvement in general management and committee work for the hospital will also be encouraged.

Essential

CCT (or within 6 months of CCT at date of AAC) or equivalent
MRCOG or equivalent
Registration with the General Medical Council
Clinical training and experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCST
Evidence of higher specialist training in High Risk Obstetrics
Advanced training skills module in Advanced Labour ward practice.
MOET course completed (or equivalent)
Evidence of experience or training Gynaecology Oncology and ultrasound scanning
Ability to lead a team
