About the role
This is a fixed term post for 12 months in the first instance, extendable by mutual consent, for those interested in developing a career in medical simulation and education. This exciting and predominantly educational role carries responsibility for coordination and provision of teaching and simulation, including clinical skills, for post-graduate/IMT doctors, student physician associates and year 5 Imperial medical students. The trainee will work to develop and deliver staff training and medical simulation projects. Approximately 1 day per week can incorporate a clinical service commitment in the adult intensive care unit.
The trainee will be expected to complete a postgraduate qualification in medical education. This will be fully funded as part of the post and is normally in the form of a postgraduate certificate (PGcert). However, the successful applicant could undertake a diploma should a PGcert have already been achieved. The aim of the position is to enable the Fellow, by the end of twelve months: To function independently as a medical simulation facilitator and educator. To have completed a Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent in medical education/simulation. This will be fully funded as part of the role. To have developed an understanding of how simulation training can be used to reduce clinical risk. To have gained further clinical experience in Intensive Care Medicine relevant to higher medical training
