Consultant Gastroenterologist

Northumbria Healthcare is seeking to appoint a Consultant Gastroenterologist (on a full-time or part-time basis) - this post underpins continued expansion in the Trust's Gastroenterology specialty. A multi-disciplinary team approach to Gastroenterology is actively in place across sub-specialties and we are working with our primary care colleagues to build an excellent service. Opportunities are available to participate in education and teaching, alongside clinical research. The post will be flexibly scheduled to meet the skillsets and sub-specialty interests of the successful applicant, alongside the demands of the service. Through the acute week the work is split between dealing with emergency gastroenterology admissions and undertaking emergency Upper GI endoscopy cases. The overnight emergency on-call is alternated between two GI Consultants. Approximately every 10th week and you will also cover the base Gastroenterology Ward at NTGH site from 9am-5pm.A typical week would consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PA's), including a minimum allocation of 1.5 SPA's for Supporting Professional Activities. Additional SPA's will be available dependent upon service need as required. There are additional PA's available for Education and Clinical supervision.Informal visits and discussion regarding the post is welcomed and encouraged.
