Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine (CESR Portfolio Pathway) Looking to Become a Consultant in Emergency Medicine? Are you an ambitious Emergency Medicine doctor looking for a structured and proven route to the Specialist Register? At Yeovil District Hospital, we have one of the region's most established Portfolio Pathway programmes, supporting talented Emergency Medicine clinicians to progress to consultant level through a personalised, fully supported development pathway. Four doctors have already successfully completed CESR through our programme and are now working as substantive consultants, with several more currently progressing through the pathway. As a Specialty Doctor, you will: Provide high quality assessment, management, review and referral of ED patients. Lead in trauma and cardiac arrest situations where appropriate. Support junior doctors and be actively involved in teaching, simulation training and departmental education. Participate in governance, quality improvement, service development and audit. Contribute to effective and safe operational flow in the ED. Be part of a compliant rota using our self rostering Health Rota system, with a mix of early, late, twilight and night shifts. Supernumerary shifts and induction time are provided at the start of employment.

About Our Emergency Department Our Emergency Department sees approximately 66,000 attendances annually and provides care for both adults and children. The department is recognised for operational excellence and delivers high-quality emergency care across a large catchment area. Person specification

Essential

Primary Medical Degree (e.g. MBBS / MBChB or equivalent).
Full Registration with the GMC and hold a licence to practice at time of applying.
UK ATLS/ ETC, ALS/EPALS. If expired within the last 6 months, evidence of booking to a course in next 6 months.
Evidence of commitment to continuing Professional Development --willingness to undertake relevant courses.
MRCEM or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years' experience postgraduate with 2 years in Emergency Medicine and evidence of working currently at SAS/ST3 level or above in NHS >1 year.
*Willingness and ability to fulfil the key elements of the job description
*Evidence of interest and experience in teaching appropriate to medical students and Doctors in training and the multidisciplinary team (where required).
*Willingness to use technology to improve standards of care and support to our patients
*Evidence of a good standard of Literacy / English language skills

Desirable

*Any of the FRCEM exams
Exposure to Emergency Medicine (A&E) in a specialist training programme or equivalent
*Evidence of ability to analyse and diagnose situations and prioritise and act accordingly
*Evidence of ability to develop effective Partnerships and team building
*Evidence of commitment to pursue a career in Hospital Medicine or General Practice
*Driving licence or ability to travel between sites
*Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit principles and evidence of direct involvement in a specific audit in the last 18 months.
