About the role
Fernville Surgery is looking to welcome a new General Practitioner to our friendly, forward-thinking team in the heart of Hemel Hempstead. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, highly regarded training practice where high-quality patient care, teamwork and professional development are at the centre of everything we do. We are proud of our strong and stable team, excellent staff retention and supportive working environment. Based in West Hertfordshire, with excellent transport links to London and easy access to the M1, Fernville offers the opportunity to build a rewarding career within a thriving practice serving a diverse population of approximately 18,500 patients.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated GP to join us for 5 to 7 sessions per week, with Mondays and Tuesday (AM) essential. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care through a mixture of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations. The role includes routine and urgent care appointments, participation in duty doctor and triage sessions, and the opportunity to develop continuity of care through your own patient list. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team and contribute to clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of practice services. Experience in minor surgery would be welcomed but is not essential. Saturday sessions are required on a pro-rata basis, up to 7 sessions annually, and are remunerated separately
Fernville Surgery is the oldest practice in Hemel Hempstead and a long-established GP training practice with a strong reputation for delivering accessible, high-quality care. Our team is at the heart of everything we do. We foster a culture of teamwork, openness and mutual respect, where staff feel valued, supported and empowered to develop professionally. Many of our clinical and administrative colleagues have been with the practice for many years, reflecting our strong team culture and excellent staff retention. We offer a well-managed workload, highly organised administrative support, a multidisciplinary clinical team including pharmacists, ANPs and ARRS roles, and a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing and worklife balance. As a practice, we are ambitious, progressive and committed to continuous improvement. We encourage innovation, support professional development and provide opportunities for clinicians to shape services and pursue areas of interest. If you are looking for a friendly, well-organised practice where you can make a real difference while enjoying a supportive and collaborative working environment, we would be delighted to hear from you.
