About the role
This post is for Locum Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons with a specialist interest in hip and hip revision surgery, supporting existing substantive Consultants in delivering high-quality elective and trauma orthopaedic care across the full patient pathway.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering elective hip arthroplasty, including primary and complex revision procedures, alongside contributing to trauma services, particularly the management of fragility fractures and neck of femur patients. The role will include inpatient, day case, and outpatient activity, as well as participation in multidisciplinary team working to support optimal patient outcomes.
These are locum posts initially offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis within the Musculoskeletal & Specialist Surgery Clinical Management Group (MSS CMG). The majority of services are based at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, and Glenfield Hospital, with trauma on-call provision primarily delivered at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The post holder will be based within the Orthopaedic Service, delivering consultant-level elective hip and trauma care across designated Trust sites. They will join an established multidisciplinary team and support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
This is a 12-month fixed-term consultant post established to support elective recovery, reduce waiting list pressures, and increase capacity within the hip arthroplasty service. The post holder will manage the full range of hip conditions, including primary and revision hip arthroplasty, and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
