Locum Consultant Cardiology

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Cardiologist to join our dynamic and supportive Cardiology team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, HSJ NHS Trust of the Year, 2025.

This is a full-time, 12-month locum consultant post, primarily to support the Trust's RTT recovery programme, supporting our Cardiac Rhythm Management and Arrhythmia services. The role will include specialist clinics and cardiac catheter laboratory sessions, predominantly in cardiac pacing, as well as internal cover within the specialist team.

The successful candidate will work closely with consultant colleagues, specialist nurses, cardiac physiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery and development of high-quality cardiology services.

The post is offered at 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week.

The successful candidate will:o Contribute to clinical services across the Cardiology department.o Undertake cath lab sessions, including pacemaker implantation.o Work collaboratively with the wider cardiology team to enhance service provision and promote innovation.o Contribute to multidisciplinary working with specialist nurses, consultants and other members of the clinical team.o Run General and specialist Cardiology outpatient clinics.o Provide early diagnosis, treatment and appropriate follow-up for patients with cardiovascular disease.o Contribute to improving waiting times, patient experience and Referral to Treatment (RTT) performance.o Support the delivery of efficient, patient-centred outpatient services.
