About the role
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a respiratory consultant. This role will to support the ongoing sustainability of Respiratory services in Gloucestershire, including supporting the asthma services.
Respiratory medicine has been identified as the vanguard service for the Strategic Transformation Programme for Gloucestershire in recognition of the strong and dynamic links between the acute trust and the community-based integrated respiratory team. This post will be cross county appointments with activities on both sites and, subject to the candidate's skills and interest there will be opportunities to work in the community as well. The successful candidate will participate equally in the departmental ward, hot and on call rota and will be able to develop another subspecialty interest, balanced with the needs of the department.
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust (GHNHSFT) was formed in April 2002 and became a second wave Foundation Trust in July 2004. We are a large organisation providing acute services from Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester and Cheltenham General Hospital. In collaboration with the other NHS Trust in Gloucestershire (Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust - GHCNHSFT - who provide physical health, mental health and learning disability services), we provide Oncology services across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and parts of Powys and Worcestershire.
