Consultant Psychiatrist

You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of Clients.

Taking overall clinical responsibility for a defined caseload, including leading multidisciplinary ward rounds, complex risk reviews, Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings, and contributing to the development and maintenance of a safe, psychologically informed therapeutic milieu. Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, ensuring statutory compliance, high-quality clinical decision-making, and clear communication with patients, families, and external agencies. Leading on specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based intervention for individuals with complex mental health needs, and providing expert consultation and guidance to the multidisciplinary team. Supervising referral, admission, and discharge pathways, including undertaking or contributing to pre-admission assessments and ensuring robust risk management, safeguarding, and continuity of care planning. Providing clinical leadership within the service through supervision, teaching, reflective practice, service development, audit, and research, while ensuring adherence to professional standards set by the Health and Care Professions Council and the British Psychological Society.
