Working at a busy rural practice we have a vacancy for a Dispenser. You will work as part of a team to provide a caring, courteous and effective dispensing service to patients and other service users.

You will assist in the preparation, dispensing and sale of prescriptions and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the dispensary.

Working with the Dispensary Manager you will ensure the smooth running of the dispensary.Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Ensure the formulary is being adhered to and support the Dispensary Manager in implementing change.

As needed train and support colleagues to maintain high standards of care.

Accurate and secure dispensing of medicines, ensuring zero discrepancies.

Manage stock levels in the dispensary.

In conjunction with other team members, the post-holder will be prepared to cover the work of colleagues when they are absent through annual leave or illness.

Person specification

Essential

Essential - NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills / Pharmacy Services Assistant
-Essential - Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and safety protocols
-Excellent IT skills in outlook, word and excel. You will use your skills for letter writing, managing the email inbox and completing spreadsheets to monitor activities
-Experience of working in a customer facing environment and have a patient focused approach.
-Good communication skills, able to communicate effectively for different needs. Apply tact and sensitivity to establish trust and confidence
-Able to work accurately and systematically, ensuring high-quality output
-A collaborative mindset and the ability to work well within a team and contribute positively to group goals are key to success in this role
-Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced environment
-Flexibility to support team members when necessary to provide holiday and sickness cover where required

Desirable

-Experience of working in general practice and an understanding of administration activities would be beneficial in particular processing prescriptions
