About the role

We are looking for a registered Psychologist who has the appropriate competencies and experience to lead our services. You will already be working at Consultant level or be ready to take this step. You will come from a Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist background and have experience of working at a Band C (NHS) equivalent level to provide regional leadership of services and people for the area advertised. In this role you will develop our psychology services and psychosocial interventions offer to support people experiencing difficulties associated with drug and alcohol use. You will be joining a brilliant national team of Psychologists and qualified counsellors; we also have a range of highly committed and passionate staff who deliver psychosocial interventions whether on a 1-1 basis or in groups. Monthly clinical supervision will be from our Head of Psychology and Psychological Therapies, or their designated leads. Essential

For Clinical Psychologists Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (accredited by the BPS); or the BPS Statement of Equivalence in Clinical Psychology. (The statement of equivalence is designed for overseas qualified clinical psychologists who need to undertake further training to meet UK standards and for psychologists qualified in other domains wishing to become clinical psychologists. The statement is no longer available to new entrants.) For Counselling Psychology Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (accredited by the BPS); or the BPS Qualification in Counselling Psychology For Forensic Psychology Professional Doctorate in Forensic Psychology (accredited by the BPS); or Masters degree in Forensic Psychology (accredited by the BPS) plus stage two of the BPS Qualification in Forensic Psychology; or Stages one and two of the BPS Qualification in Forensic Psychology. Entry-level qualification in applied psychological therapy/mental health/social welfare profession and demonstrable practice in this field (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level/ supervised practice/ additional training) that has been accepted for the purposes of professional registration. Registered with professional body as appropriate to discipline HCPC/APC/ BPC/UKCP/BACP/BABCP/ADMP-UK.
Experience of, and interest and commitment to working with people using substances and alcohol Experience of working with a wide variety of people across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity Experience of working with complex trauma at a high level Experience of the application of Clinical or Counselling Psychology in different contexts Experience of working within a trauma-informed framework Experience of teaching, training, and/or clinical supervision of staff, such as Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, trainee Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, and other Multi-disciplinary Team members Experience of the professional management of qualified and pre-qualified applied psychologists, inclusive of team formulation sessions and delivering/supervising reflective practice sessions Experience of planning, delivery and supervision of therapeutic and /or psychoeducational 1-1s or groups Experience in use of data, collation and analysis of outcomes and their presentation within reports and papers

Desirable

Training in leadership and/or management skills Knowledge and experience of applying legislation and national guidance in relation to psychology and/or neuropsychology i.e. Mental Capacity Act 2005
