Locum Consultant in Cardiac Electrophysiology Full time (10PA) 12 months fixed term Barts Health NHS Trust and St Bartholomew's Hospital invites you to apply for this exciting opportunity to join the Electrophysiology department as part of the Barts Heart Centre. Barts Health NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in Britain and the cardiovascular centre is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, providing sector wide care to a population of over 6 million. The Electrophysiology department is the biggest in the UK and one of the biggest in Europe. Electrophysiology along with Interventional cardiology make up one of the three directorates within the Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew's Hospital. The Barts Heart Centre is the biggest in the UK with its complement of 10 catherisation labs (5 of which are dedicated to EP) and 10 cardiothoracic theatres.

Person specification

Essential

Full registration with the GMC/eligible for registration Within 6 months of CCST in Cardiology at interview date
MRCP (UK) or equivalent
Fully trained in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac device implantation
All aspects of cardiac electrophysiology and general cardiology
Ability to undertake and direct audit with demonstrable understanding of the impact and challenges this brings
Good IT skills, use of patient and hospital databases
Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national level.
Evidence of extensive involvement with research (clinical, translational or basic science) and the ability to describe and discuss the impact of findings
Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international scientific meetings
Knowledge of research ethics and grant applications
Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within an MDT.
Accountability; ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority
Interpersonal Skills; ability to see patients as people, ability to empathise and work co-operatively with others
Self-motivated with an enquiring, critical approach to work
Ability to work under pressure
