About the role
This post is for a newly qualified General Practitioner who is fully GMC registered and is confident working autonomously across varied clinical settings. The post holder will be required to deliver clinical services across multiple SDHC sites, including, but not limited to, Hillbrow Health and Wellbeing, the Intermediate Care Ward at Eastbourne District General Hospital, and other SDHC operational locations according to service needs. This post will require the GP to work some evenings and weekends.
This is a predominantly clinical, cross-setting GP role, with 90% or more of contracted hours focused on direct patient care. You will work autonomously across SDHC services, managing a varied and often complex caseload across primary, intermediate and virtual care settings. Your main duties will include delivering evidence-based care, assessing and managing patients with complex needs and long-term conditions, prescribing safely, making autonomous clinical decisions, and referring or escalating patients appropriately. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to provide coordinated, seamless care across services, while maintaining high-quality clinical records and promoting prevention, healthy living and patient wellbeing. The role also includes occasional supervision and mentoring of GP trainees and colleagues, participation in research projects with partners such as NIHR and universities, and contribution to audit, quality improvement, patient safety and shared learning. You will also support service development by sharing best practice, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement, and using your clinical experience to help shape how care is delivered across SDHC.
