About the role
Applications are invited for a full time, fixed term 12-month appointment as Senior Clinical Fellow in Medical Dermatology and Digital Education, commencing 5 August 2026. This post is suitable for dermatologists seeking to develop an interest in medical education and acquire specialist training in complex medical dermatology. This is an excellent opportunity to both develop an interest in medical education and receive supra-specialist training in complex medical dermatology. The post holder will join a first-class, multi-disciplinary team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment. This post will comprise 50:50 education and clinical time. The post holder will have a unique opportunity to develop as a medical educationist, advancing the digital education portfolio of St John's DermAcademy. As a senior clinical fellow within highly specialised medical dermatology, the post holder will receive supra-specialist training in the management of adult severe inflammatory skin disease and optimised use of biologic and other immunomodulatory therapies. General enquiries, about the job or for an informal discussion about this post should be directed to Dr Satveer Mahil, Consultant Dermatologist and St John's DermAcademy Director [email: satveer.mahil@nhs.net].
This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the continued development of St John's DermAcademy while receiving specialist clinical experience in complex medical dermatology at St John's Institute of Dermatology. The post is funded 50% by the Specialist Ambulatory Medical Services Directorate for clinical activities and 50% by St John's DermAcademy for educational activities. The role uniquely comprises two integrated parts: postgraduate medical education and medical dermatology. The post holder will have a pivotal role in the content development, organisation and delivery of postgraduate courses and education initiatives for St John's DermAcademy, with particular emphasis on growing the digital education portfolio. This will include online educational modules, webinars, podcasts and other evidence-based digital education resources for healthcare professionals. The role will also offer opportunities for personal development as an educationalist, including support to undertake a formal qualification in medical education, such as a postgraduate certificate in medical education.
