About the role
Applications are invited for a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon to join the dynamic and forward-thinking Breast Surgery team at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and enhancing the Trust's breast and oncoplastic surgery service, supporting both symptomatic and NHS Breast Screening Programme pathways. The role offers excellent opportunities for consultant development, including dual consultant operating for complex and bilateral procedures, participation in regional oncoplastic MDTs, and involvement in research, teaching and quality improvement initiatives. The service currently includes: 4 Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons Dedicated Breast Care Nurses and Diagnostic ACP/ANP team Consultant Breast Radiologists Strong oncology and pathology support Dedicated research nurses with excellent NIHR recruitment performance The department has a strong culture of collaboration, innovation and education, with close links to the University of Buckingham Medical School and opportunities to teach undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
The successful candidate will support the continued development of the Trust's breast and oncoplastic surgery service, delivering high-quality care for patients with breast cancer and benign breast disease. Duties include outpatient clinics, one-stop assessment clinics, operating lists, MDT participation and contribution to the NHS Breast Screening Programme. The appointee will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, contribute to teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate learners, participate in audit and research activity, and support service improvement and clinical governance initiatives
