About the role
Ideally, we are looking for two substantive respiratory consultants, one with an interest in lung cancer and Pleural and the other Tb/Complex Lung infections but would support development of any sub-specialist interests/research. We have a large Integrated Respiratory team and given our successful bid of £1.2 million have expanded our respiratory virtual ward and work very closely with our extensive and experienced award winning Acute Integrated Respiratory (AIR) nursing team. We have one of the highest TB incidence areas outside of London and run a busy NHSE funded latent TB new entrant screening programme. We were also one of the initial pilot sites for Lung Cancer Screening, with this now being rolled out nationally, interest and development within this service would also be supported, we are an ever expanding & inclusive department. The roles are based at Wexham Park Hospital with Respiratory clinics largely held at King Edward VII Hospital in Windsor. The departments are hugely supportive and happy to support new CCT holders in gaining skills and experience to help with future sub-specialist interests particularly research. Ideally applicants would be able to start in September 2026, but later and earlier start dates would be considered.
We are seeking two Consultant Respiratory Physician. The Lung Cancer/Pleural post is a full-time, initially 10PA appointment, with a commitment to the general weekday medical rota (approx 1:26) and the respiratory weekend rota 1 in 8. For this post the appointee would be expected to undertake on average: 1 general respiratory outpatient clinics in clinic weeks 2 specialist clinic - Pleural/Lung cancer Weekly procedures list (bronchoscopy, EBUS or pleural procedures depending on experience / competence) 2 ward weeks followed by 5 clinic weeks commitment 1 in 8 week respiratory HDU weekend on call commitment Triage of ERS referrals 1 in 26 GIM weekday on call commitment The TB/Infection post is a part-time, initially 8PA appointment, with a commitment to the general weekday medical rota (approx 1:26) and the respiratory weekend rota 1 in 10. For this post the appointee would be expected to undertake on average: 1 general respiratory outpatient clinics in clinic weeks 2 specialist clinic - Tb/Infection Be part of the bronchoscopy on call rota 2 ward weeks followed by 5 clinic weeks commitment 1 in 10 week respiratory HDU weekend on call commitment Triage of ERS referrals 1 in 26 GIM weekday on call commitment
