About the role

Join a dynamic and forward-thinking Obstetrics and Gynaecology team committed to delivering high-quality patient care, service development, innovation and collaborative working. Applications are welcomed from candidates who have a range of skills committed to a flexible job plan to support service needs. Based within the Croft Wing at Warrington Hospital, the department forms part of a maternity service rated Good by the CQC (January 2024) and provides care for approximately 2,600 births annually. The department offers a comprehensive range of benign and complex gynaecological surgery. Most hysterectomies are performed laparoscopically, supported by advanced laparoscopic services across Warrington and Halton Hospitals. Additional procedures include outpatient hysteroscopy, NovaSure endometrial ablation and MyoSure tissue removal. Gynaecological cancer services are delivered in collaboration with Liverpool Women's Hospital, supported by weekly multidisciplinary meetings and specialist nursing teams. Complex endometriosis cases are referred to regional tertiary centres. The successful candidate will join a motivated consultant team, sharing responsibility for obstetric and gynaecology services while contributing to clinical governance, audit, teaching, training, supervision of junior doctors and ongoing service improvement.

The department welcomes applications from candidates who would be interested in a Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to provide maternity cover until 31st March 2027, while supporting the Trust's elective recovery programme and continued delivery of high quality gynaecology services. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive consultant team committed to delivering high-quality patient care, service development, and collaborative working. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care, contribute to service improvement, supervise junior medical staff, and participate in audit, quality improvement, clinical governance, and departmental leadership activities. The role comprises 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), and in addition there may be an opportunity to do out of hours on-call 1:11 frequency with prospective cover. Shared office accommodation, dedicated secretarial support, and operational support from the Clinical Business Unit (CBU) Manager are provided

Essential

oFull GMC registration oMRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification oRelevant CCT or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC) oEntry onto the GMC Specialist Registrar or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC oEvidence of specialist training RCCOG ATSM/SITMS in Gynaecology
oExperience of supervising junior medical staff
oShow an ability to conduct audit of excellent quality
oDemonstrate an understanding of research within the NHS
oIT skills to use Trust EPR systems
Experience of working at consultant level in Gynaecology including independent management of benign gynaecological conditions
Previous NHS Consultant
oConducts self in line with trust values
oAbility to lead effectively within a multidisciplinary team
oOn call consultant must be immediately contactable and available to attend the hospital when required as per RCOG
