About the role
An Exciting Opportunity in Microvascular Breast Reconstruction An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, skilled Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a special interest in microvascular breast reconstruction to join the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a dynamic, well-trained DIEP surgeon with excellent clinical and team-working skills to lead and develop our DIEP reconstruction service. The service currently undertakes approximately two DIEP reconstructions per month, with significant potential to increase this activity and further develop the regional service, with a 10 PA job plan.
The successful candidate will join a high-performing and well-established breast and oncoplastic team. The Trust treats more than 650 new breast cancer patients each year, with additional referrals from across a wide geographical area including North and South Devon, Dorchester, Taunton and Cornwall. Our oncoplastic breast service is exceptionally well established. All breast consultants have completed TIG-accredited oncoplastic breast fellowships, creating a highly skilled and collaborative multidisciplinary team. The team works closely and harmoniously across specialties, with a shared commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for patients. We have an established oncoplastic MDT that has been running for more than 13 years, attended not only by our own specialists but also by plastic and oncoplastic breast consultants from referring centres. This provides a strong regional network and an efficient, well-developed referral pathway for complex breast reconstruction. Excellent Infrastructure and Patient-Centred Care This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant who is passionate about microsurgical breast reconstruction and who would welcome the opportunity to lead, consolidate and expand a high-quality DIEP service within a supportive and progressive multidisciplinary environment, in a wonderful part of the UK.
