Job responsibilities The post holder: will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient-facing role. will take responsibility for overseeing the dispensary from a business perspective and undertake clinical medication reviews to proactively manage patients with complex conditions. will provide primary support to general practice staff with regards to prescription and medication queries. will deal with acute prescription requests, medicines reconciliation on transfer of care and systems for safer prescribing, providing expertise in clinical medicines advice while addressing both public and social care needs of the patient. will ensure that the practice integrates with community and hospital pharmacy to help utilise skill mix, improve patient outcomes, ensure better access to healthcare and help manage workload.

The practice has a main surgery in the centre of Dunmow and a branch surgery in nearby Felsted. Our core opening hours are 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Fridays. Additionally, the practice is open for extended access appointments on some evenings and some Saturdays. We are a friendly practice who have a values-based approach to recruitment. Our teams include a range of GPs, nurses, allied healthcare professionals and a full complement of administrative and reception staff. We have regular social events throughout the year and several other employee benefits.In addition to your salary and other benefits, you will be entitled to join the NHS Pension Scheme. We also offer a minimum of 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays. This is pro-rata'd for part time staff. Person specification

Essential

Essential Skills and Abilities:
An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving prescribing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to competently use a number of IT systems e.g. Microsoft Office, SystmOne etc.
Qualified clinical pharmacist - ideally with an independent prescriber qualification
Mandatory registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Demonstrates accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provision.

Desirable

Primary Care experience preferred.
Commitment to continuing professional development.
