About the role
This is a Specialist Anaesthetist appointment governed by the National Terms and Conditions and salary framework for Specialists introduced in April 2021. The post is based at Weston General Hospital and is designed to support the delivery of a high-quality, safe and efficient anaesthesia service within the Department of Anaesthesia of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston The post holder will undertake a varied and challenging clinical anaesthetic role and will be responsible for the clinical management of patients under their care, working independently while liaising closely with consultant colleagues. The role includes elective and emergency anaesthetic activity delivered during weekday and weekend daytime sessions, together with participation in the overnight on-call rota. Weston General Hospital provides elective surgical services across a range of specialties including Upper Gastrointestinal, Colorectal, Orthopaedics, Urology, Gynaecology and Breast surgery. Emergency operating takes place daily through Trauma and CEPOD service. The Department of Anaesthesia also supports the hospital's pre-operative assessment service and acute pain service. The department aims to support the development of regular sessions within a specific specialty where possible, and this can be discussed at pre-interview visits, interview, and through the job planning process.
