About the role
The Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC) has created a new 8B role to act as the Lead for Clinical Developments and Deputy Head of Treatment Planning and is looking for a highly experienced registered radiotherapy Medical Physics Expert to fill it. NCCC runs services at both Freeman Hospital, Newcastle and Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle and provides a highly specialised clinical service for the treatment of cancer patients. The successful candidate will be based primarily at the Freeman Hospital but would be required to work occasionally in the Carlisle site. You will be responsible for supporting the head of treatment planning by providing scientific expertise, managing clinical and scientific teams and driving development of the clinical planning service to ensure a high quality service. You will have operational management responsibility for a range of aspects of the planning service and assure quality of dose modelling in a range of planning software. You will line-manage clinical scientists and advise and mentor clinical technologists. You must have significant experience in development, commissioning and QA of treatment planning processes and systems, including automated and AI systems, radiobiology and adaptive planning. Proven experience of leading teams and leading change is essential.
