About the role
We are pleased to offer the appointment of two Consultants in Pancreatobiliary Medicine at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
The primary role for the appointees will be to contribute to the provision of HPB medicine services. They will be expected to be expert in assessment of patients with Pancreatobiliary diseases and to deliver specialist endoscopic interventions including ERCP and EUS.
Experience in endobiliary endoscopy is desirable. Ability to work collaboratively with MDT colleagues and the local referral network is essential. Additional sub-specialist interests are desirable and can be negotiated according to the experience of the appointee and needs of the department. The post holder may contribute to on-call rota for hepatology and/or upper gastrointestinal bleeding (1:12).
The Royal Free Liver Unit is a tertiary service providing the full range of advanced hepatology, liver and pancreatobiliary surgery and liver transplant treatment. Pancreatobiliary (PB) endoscopy is a key component of the service providing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
The appointees would join the existing team of 2 Royal Free PB Medicine consultants and 2 PB medicine clinical fellows supported by the endoscopy nursing and management teams and within the department there are also sub-specialist and multidisciplinary clinics, for example, a joint Hepatology and Oncology clinic for the multi-disciplinary management of patients with HCC, vascular liver diseases, NAFLD, pancreaticobiliary medicine, alpha1 antitrypsin deficiency, polycystic disease, autoimmune liver diseases and viral hepatitis. There are weekly MDTs in transplantation, viral hepatology and hepatobiliary malignancies, benign HPB disease, hepatology radiology and pathology meetings, plus daily afternoon transplant meetings.
