About the role
We are inviting applications for a Locum Consultant Paediatrician, for an initial period of 3 months, to join our dynamic acute paediatric team. This is a full-time post (10 PAs) and is to commence as soon as possible. The role will primarily focus onGeneral Paediatrics, and while a specialty interest is not essential, any subspecialty that complements our existing service will be welcomed and supported. We offerflexibility within the role, providing opportunities to gain experience in broader aspects of the consultant position, including: Managerial responsibilities Participation in leadership activities Service development initiatives We are committed to supporting professional growth and will providementorship and guidancefor: Newly qualified consultantsseeking to build experience. The successful candidate will join athriving and fully integrated Child Health Directorate, comprising21.5 WTE Consultants, including2 Paediatric Neurologistsand6 WTE Consultant Community Paediatricians. The post is primarily based atRoyal Preston Hospital, with close collaboration across the wider paediatric team. Key Responsibilities: Inpatient ward cover, supporting the Consultant of the Week. Assessment Unit and emergency admissionscover. Outpatient clinics, primarily new patient assessments. Evening resident shiftsin the Paediatric Assessment Unit (approx. 6 shifts per 10-week cycle), working alongside junior and middle grade doctors. No neonatal coveris required. Opportunity to undertake managerial or leadership responsibilities, depending on interest and experience.
