The Urology team at Ashford & St Peter's (ASPH) consists of 10 WTE consultants. A key component of the role will be supporting the Centre for Endometriosis and Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (CEMIG). The successful applicant will require experience in pelvic surgery, including robotic and open approaches, and will work closely with the multidisciplinary endometriosis team to deliver high-quality surgical care. They will also contribute to the general urology service, focusing on bladder outlet obstruction, functional urology and benign prostatic enlargement (BPE). Competence in contemporary BPE surgery is essential, including ThuLEP/HoLEP, GreenLight PVP and minimally invasive surgical therapies (MIST). The post holder will help develop LUTS and BOO pathways, supporting initiatives to increase day-case BOO surgery and expand outpatient MIST procedures. Other commitments include inpatient ward rounds, weekly MDTs, prostate imaging meetings and general/LUTS clinics. The postholder will deliver high-quality clinical, educational and managerial services at Consultant level, working with the multidisciplinary team to provide a well-led, patient-centred urology service. Duties include delivering direct clinical care across outpatient, diagnostic, inpatient and surgical settings, supporting clinical decision making and sharing the departmental workload. The consultant team provides comprehensive senior cover, including ward rounds, MDT meetings, clinics and theatre sessions The role includes responsibility for the assessment and ongoing care of patients, ensuring safe handover and providing timely consultant opinions for colleagues in other specialties. The postholder will contribute to Trust priorities, service development and compliance with governance standards, while engaging with medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to support high-quality care and improved patient experience. The consultant will actively participate in education, research, audit and clinical governance, supporting the training of medical and non-medical staff, including supervision of junior doctors and delivery of teaching sessions. They will contribute to recruitment, appraisal, mentoring and development of the multidisciplinary workforce. Person specification

Essential

Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (or CCT) by the time of taking up the post or be accredited for inclusion on the General Medical Council's Specialist Register.
Fully registered with the General Medical Council.
Competence in a range of BOO treatments, including HoLEP/ ThuLEP, Greenlight PVP, MIST treatments
Experience of delivering daycase BOO surgery
Knowledge of current trends in specialty and sub-specialty of BPE/LUTS
Recent robotic and open pelvic surgery experience
Experience in Urology

Desirable

Leading a change or innovation in the workplace with a multi-disciplinary team
Evidence of ability to continuously improve patient and staff experience
Postgraduate certificate in education
Demonstrate the Trust Values Based Behaviours at Exemplary level
