About the role
University Hospital Birmingham is seeking to employ a Locum Consultant Neurologists on a 12-month fixed term contract to sustain and develop the existing services (inpatients and outpatients) and to provide comprehensive care for the population of Birmingham with general and specialist neurological conditions. This post is funded to facilitate the provision of General Neurology and Specialist services for the West Midlands region and are based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, with the expectation of service delivery across any University Hospitals Birmingham site. It is likely that there will be time spent in a partner centre within the regional neuroscience network. This will be determined by individual interests and the needs of the partner sites. The successful candidate will, alongside general neurological duties, provide predominantly outpatient care as well as some inpatient care of adults with a range of neurological conditions and help to co-ordinate the long-term care of such patients in the community.
Applicants are invited for Locum Consultant Neurologist and are encouraged to have a special interest in areas that fit with the current department needs. Essential criteria for the post includes: possession of Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice; Basic Medical Degree (e.g. MBBS); entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview); European Community Rights or CESR; evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Neurology (or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview); Full MRCP or equivalent; a wide experience of working in Neurology.
