About the role
The department of Vascular surgery are looking to recruit a middle grade level doctor (ST3+ level) and the successful applicants will be part of the surgical on call rota at Morriston Hospital. The post is to commence ASAP on a fixed term basis for 12 months. Due to service requirements, this 12-month fixed-term post is required to commence as soon as practicable. Candidates must be able to start within a reasonable and finite timeframe. There is ample time available for a suitable appointee to undertake research towards a higher degree if desired. At present there are 10 Vascular surgeons serving Swansea site in Swansea Bay University Health Board. The majority of these surgeons have sessions in both Morriston and Singleton Hospitals aswell as commitments in Hywel Dda healthboard but all major surgery and emergency intake occur on the Morriston site. Swansea provides elective and emergency Vascular surgical services to Swansea and the Neath/Port Talbot area which amounts to a population of around 400,000. The well established Vascular unit has a National reputation providing local and regional services. The overall Health Board allocation is over £1bn and staffing complement of over 17,000.
