About the role
The Dove Medical Practice is seeking a Salaried GP to provide maternity leave cover for a minimum fixed-term period of six months, commencing on 31 August 2026. An earlier start date would be welcomed and can be accommodated for the right candidate. 5 sessions per week / fixed term contract 6 weeks annual leave pro rata 1 week study leave pro rata Daily clinical meeting to provide support/answer queries Salary dependent on experience The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced clinical and management team, with regular opportunities for collaboration, learning, and professional development.
Our GP clinical sessions are 4 hours and 10 minutes in duration. Face-to-face appointments are scheduled at 15-minute intervals, with telephone consultations allocated 10 minutes. Clinics consist of a mixture of face-to-face and telephone appointments, alongside one allocated home visit slot per session. Protected administration time is built into each session to support completion of blood results, repeat prescriptions, correspondence and other clinical duties. All GPs are expected to participate in the practice Duty GP rota on a shared basis. The Duty GP is responsible for the clinical triage of same-day patient requests and urgent appointment allocation into the practice.
The Dove Medical Practice is a high-performing GP practice based in Erdington, Birmingham, caring for approximately 9,200 patients. We are a well-established training and teaching practice with a strong focus on innovation, patient care and staff wellbeing. Our clinical team consists of experienced GP Partners, Salaried GPs, ANPs, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Pharmacists, Paramedics and a highly supportive administrative and reception team. The practice is part of KEN PCN and works closely with neighbouring practices and multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for our local population.
