About the role

This is a substantive Consultant Radiologist post in Urological and Differences of Sex Development/Complex Congenital Gynaecological (DSD/CCG) Radiology at University College London Hospitals, based in the Radiology Department at UCH. The post-holder must have subspecialty experience in uro and gynae imaging, including DSD/CCG imaging, as well as general / oncology cross sectional radiology, in order to support the delivery of the radiology services at UCH.

The successful appointee will work with a team of consultants who specialise in Urological and Gynaecological radiology. They will also provide the sole radiology support to the DSD/CCG team. There are extensive opportunities for academic collaboration with University College London and its medical school.

The post-holder will work closely with the existing team of consultant radiologists to develop and enhance the imaging service provided to acute, outpatient and inpatient services and to strengthen the reporting profile of the department. The Radiology Department is very active in both teaching and research and the post-holder would be expected to participate in these.

Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCST.

The post holder will join the urology and gynaecology radiology teams. The urology team is made up of 9 Consultant Radiologist whilst the Gynaecology team is made up of 3. The main duties of this post are as follows: Ability to perform all aspects of urological and gynaecological imagingProvide the sole radiology support to the DSD/CCG gynaecology teamDevelop these services under the guidance of the clinical leadsParticipate in teaching and trainingParticipate in auditContribute to clinical research. The post is a less-than full-time role, with 5 sessions per week of direct clinical care and 1 session of SPA. This will involve the reporting of a wide range of urological and gynaecological scans while supporting wider general radiological services in the department. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to a range of specialist MDTs including Uro Onc, Gynae Onc, and DSD/CCG in addition to providing specialist ultrasound, treatment planning and fluoroscopy services. The successful candidate would be expected to participate fully, depending on the requirements of the department and relevant training will be provided where necessary. The job plan provided is subject to change in response to post holder or service needs.The successful applicant will also take part in the (low intensity, non-resident) general radiology on call rota.

Essential

Eligible for full GMC registration by date of appointment and entry on the specialist register (or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC).
FRCR (UK) or appropriate specialist qualification.
At least one year of recognised sub specialty training in Urological and Gynaecological Radiology
Demonstrate specialist expertise in urological and gynaecological Radiology.
Diagnostic and MDT experience in DSD/CCG conditions.
Broad reporting ability in acute and general diagnostic imaging.
General Oncology reporting skills.
Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen and negotiate with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses, and other agencies.
