Consultant in Respiratory Medicine (Integrated Care)

Newham University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for a full time Respiratory Consultant to join our dynamic Respiratory team. This post is a permanent post with a subspecialty focus on Integrated care. The appointee will work alongside 5 established respiratory consultants in a brand new, purpose-built respiratory unit. The successful candidate will contribute to inpatient general respiratory care, and a 1 in 18 acute unselected medical rota. The respiratory rota is generously filled with trainees and innovative fellow roles (intervention and quality improvement fellowships). The Respiratory team have been highlighted for their high rates of satisfaction across the annual staff survey 2023. The post holder will be expected to contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff and other professional groups. They will support audit, clinical governance and improvement work happening across the department.

To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient acute and specialist Respiratory Medicine service at Barts Health NHS Trust To deliver excellence in care for patients admitted on acute unselected medical take. To work closely with colleagues in both primary and secondary care, to provide seamless, integrated care for patients with chronic respiratory conditions and acute exacerbations. To provide evidence-based care for all inpatients and outpatients. To develop community partnerships within the community virtual wards across north east London. To have regard at all times for the clinical and quality standards. To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies, and to work collaboratively across North East London as required. To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work with the specialties working closely and regularly with the consultant medical staff. To promote the principles of good Governance, participating in and supporting delivery of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework. To participate fully in the management of the Department and to liaise closely with the General Manager and the Clinical Lead. To take an active role in teaching and training in the department and Trust at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
