About the role
This post is ideal for candidates who are keen to gainhigh qualityclinical and academic forensic experience as a springboard to a successful application for higher training in forensic psychiatry. Applications are invited foran enthusiasticcandidate towork alongside a consultant forensic psychiatrist on Effra Ward, River House, Bethlem Royal Hospitalto cover a period of maternity leave for one year. This is a 16 bedded male medium secure ward providing rehabilitation to patients who have progressed from acute wards and are working towards discharge or stepping down to lower levels of security. Effra ward is just one of 6 secure wards at River House. Other wards include a female ward, a service for forensic patients with personality disorder, an intensive care ward for men, an acute male ward, and a second male rehabilitation ward. The forensic mental health service atSLaMalso includes a male low secure unit at the Bethlem Royal Hospital, a non-secure stepdown service at Lambeth Hospital, four community forensic mental health teams, criminal justice liaisonteamsand a personality disorder service at HMP Brixton. This post isfull time,9am - 5pm with no on call responsibilities.However, applicants interested in a part-time post are also welcomed. The successful candidate will workas a multidisciplinary team member in the assessment and management of patients onEffra ward.
